Know this before starting your internship

Internship is a training where a graduate is expected to practice and learn medicine and acquire skills under supervision.
Total period of internship is 12months and compulsory in the subjects/departments mentioned below:

• Community Medicine 60 Days 
• Medicine including 15 days of Psychiatry 60 Days 
• Surgery including 15 days Anesthesia 60 Days 
• Obst./Gynae. Including Family Welfare Planning 60 Days 
• Pediatrics 30 Days 
• Orthopedics 30 days
• ENT 15 days 
• Ophthalmology 15 days 
• Casualty 15 days 
• Elective posting 15days

Elective posting includes- Not compulsory to do all subjects mentioned in electives

•  Dermatology and Sexually Transmitted Diseases. ii) 
• Tuberculosis and Respiratory Diseases. 
•  Radio – Diagnosis 
•  Forensic Medicine 
•  Blood Bank 
•  Psychiatry

Log book should be maintained throughout the internship period, and some hospitals donot require students to maintain log book

HOLIDAYS FOR INTERNS- No kind of leave or absence is permitted to an Intern except as may be permitted by the Medical Council of India. Total number of leave will be maximum 12 days per year and They cannot take more than 6 days leave at a time.

List of hospitals approved by MCI for internship

It is compulsory for FMG students to do internship in India after passing FMGE examination conducted by MCI, twice in a year. Students who have did their medical education from China,can do internship in India or China.It is recommended to do internship in those hospitals which are listed by MCI only, MCI or state medical council doesn't hold responsibility if you do internship in hospitals other than one which are mentioned.
